Why do you write?

I love it! I started writing at the age of 49, and haven’t stopped since. It’s a joy I only wish I’d discovered sooner!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I’m inspired by so many things. People, places, music, dreams, my own past. Inspiration is everywhere!

Any writing related tips you would like to share?

Have fun and explore. Join writing groups (in person and virtual). Read as much as you can. Learn to edit yourself, and then always hire an editor too.

Any advice for new writers?

I started as a fanfiction writer and found it to be a wonderful free class in writing. You can be anonymous, get feedback from real readers, network with other writers, even learn about marketing. Also, don’t get discouraged. There’s always more to learn. Keep at it, and you’ll improve.

Anything else you would like to share about your writing or writing process?

Don’t be afraid to try new things. Explore different genres. Try new styles of writing, even poetry. It’s like flexing your muscles. The more you flex, the better you’ll be.

Tell us about any hobbies:

I TNR (trap, neuter, return) feral cats, foster when I can, help local rescues find homes for cats. I have a yard full of neutered adults I feed and love, and indoor cats who started as ferals.

Any pets?

In addition to my feral and now-tame cats, I have two rescued Chihuahuas.

Favourite music genre and/or artist?

I love all kinds of music! There are too many artists to list.

Favourite TV series?

I’m a fan of so many shows, I can’t imagine choosing a favorite.

Favourite food/meal?

Anything Italian

Favourite season?

Fall or spring. How does one choose?

What genre/s do you like to read?

I’m also all over the place with my reading tastes.

What are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?

I just pre-ordered the latest romance anthologies from The New Romance Cafe: Baby, it’s Hot and Summer Pleasures.

Any book recommendations?

I don’t have specific recommendations, but I do highly recommend joining a book club or two. They will steer you to authors you might have overlooked.

Do you have a favourite author?

I’d say Jane Austen is probably my favorite. I never tire of her.

Anything else you would like to share about your personal life or interests?

I’m happily married and live most of the time in Phoenix, but I spend my summers in Tryon, North Carolina, my favorite little town. I lived for 27 years in Hollywood and worked as a model, commercial actor, film extra, and in roles behind the camera too, including as the double and road manager for Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Many of my stories are set in L.A. or a fictionalized version of Tryon. I love to write what I know.
