WIPs – What are you working on now?

Tying off loose ends on my second novel which is a historical romance set in early Victorian times. Plotting another historical romance for my third book.

Why do you write?

Why do we breathe? LOL. Writing is a way of reflecting on the world around me, to process emotion, to explore dynamics in relationships and wider society. It’s a way of capturing beauty and painting pictures with words. But if we’re talking about what drove me to write currently – I believe we need more messages of unity in this fractured world of ours, so I’m trying to put a few out there to be a drop in an ocean.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

The world.

Any writing related tips you would like to share?

Don’t listen to the inner critic, or let fear of external criticism hold you back. Yes, there is a place for feedback, but this isn’t during the draft stage. Write for yourself first and foremost and keep going.

Any advice for new writers?

Just write and find your own process! Everyone has a different route, so try out different tips but if they don’t work for you, switch it up. Don’t worry too much about right or wrong, and don’t be scared to experiment.

Tell us about any hobbies:

I’m a passionate salsa dancer and in love with Latin and Afrocuban music.

Favourite music genre and/or artist?

See above! Herencia de Timbiqui, Elio Reve Y Su Charangon and Septeto Santiaguero are some favourites, but there are too many amazing artists to list. I also love piano music, and Ludovico Einaudi is a solid favourite there.

Favourite TV series?

Stop making me pick favourites! Poldark is a romance fave, currently enjoying Snowfall. I enjoy a wide range.

Favourite food/meal?

All of it! XD

Favourite season?

You guessed it: there is something I love about every season. The crisp, fresh winter mornings. The first flowers of spring. The warm sunshine in summer. The patter of rain on the roof in autumn.

What genre/s do you like to read?

General fiction, romance, non-fiction, especially with a focus on science and psychology

After the Wedding by Courtney Milan
