Why do you write?

I’ve always wanted to be a writer. Ever since I can remember. I carried these little note books around, writing short pieces whenever inspiration struck. But I always kept it to myself – becoming a published author just never seemed like something that could truly happen.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Mostly music. Some songs have the ability to inspire entire novels!

Any writing related tips you would like to share?

Set aside time to write every single day. It’s something that should happen every day, pour yourself, your emotions, your experiences, your hopes and dreams into your work.

Any advice for new writers?

Don’t get discouraged. It’s a lot of work, it can be daunting at times, but just keep going. Never stop.

Anything else you would like to share about your writing or writing process?

For the first time in my life, it feels like I’ve found my passion. So, writing is my way of recharging. I’ve made myself a nice little set-up – inspiration boards, notebooks, earphones and loads of chocolate – so sitting down to write is the best time of the day for me.

Tell us about any hobbies?

Reading.! When I’m not writing, I’m reading. And also watching movies and series. I’ve got a thing for stories… My husband calls me his little story mouse.

Any pets?

Currently we’ve got two cats, one dog and two little hedgehogs. My two giants babies passed away earlier this year, and I miss them terribly. They were St. Bernards and brought so much love and fluff into our home.

Favourite music genre and/or artist?

It depends on my mood. I’ve got a new favourite every week. Currently I’m listening to Lacey (a band from the UK). But for my writing it’s mostly Fleurie, Tommee Profitt and Ursine Vulpine. You should see my Spotify playlists – it’s crazy!

Favourite TV series?

F.R.I.E.N.D.S and then at least ten others as well. But Friends is my go to series – whenever I have a bad day, an episode of Friends gets me right out of my slump.

Favourite food/meal?

Pasta! I can’t go a week without making pasta – my husband is so sick of it already lol – sometimes I even make it twice a week!

Favourite season?

Autumn – the colours are just magical.

What genre/s do you like to read?

YA Fantasy and Romance – My bookshelves are filled with YA Fantasy novels.

What are you currently reading or what was the last book you read?

I’ve been reading Gabrielle Sands’ novels and also Cora Reilly. Last book I really enjoyed was Taut Strings by Gabrielle Sands.

Any book recommendations?

Yes! Anything by Bree Porter, Danielle Lori and Gabrielle Sands.

Do you have a favourite author?

Fav Indie Author would be Bree Porter – I love her stories and she is also an inspiration to me.
Fav Trad Author is Sarah J Maas – If there’s a book, I make sure I have it!

Anything else you would like to share about your personal life or interests?

I’m a wife and a mother of two little boys first. I spend my days on a farm in South Africa. But I would give anything in the world to be able to travel – I’d pack up my family and live all over if I could.
